Privacy Policy
ForgeNetzwork ("the App") is a network diagnostic toolkit for iOS and macOS. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App accesses, how it is used, and your rights as a user.
The short version: ForgeNetzwork does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to external servers. All data remains on your device.
Overview
ForgeNetzwork operates entirely on your local device. We believe in absolute privacy, which is why the app requires no login, features no advertising tracking, and communicates directly from your device to the target networks you analyze.
Information the App Accesses
Local Network Information
The App reads your device's IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS server addresses directly from the operating system. This information is displayed within the App and is never transmitted to any external server.
Local Network Scanning
When you use the LAN Scanner or Network Monitor features, the App sends standard network probes (ICMP ping and TCP connection attempts) to IP addresses on your local network to discover active devices. This data is processed locally on your device and is not stored or transmitted externally.
DNS Queries
The DNS Lookup and DNS Benchmark features send DNS queries directly to the DNS servers you select (e.g., Google 8.8.8.8, Cloudflare 1.1.1.1). These queries are subject to the privacy policies of the respective DNS providers. The App does not log or transmit these queries elsewhere.
WHOIS Lookups
When you perform a WHOIS lookup, the App connects directly to the relevant WHOIS server for the queried domain or IP. The query is not routed through any App server.
SSL Certificate Inspection
When you inspect an SSL certificate, the App establishes a direct TLS connection to the specified host to retrieve the certificate. No certificate data is transmitted to any third party.
Ping & Traceroute
These features send standard ICMP or TCP packets directly to the hosts you specify. No data about these operations is collected or transmitted externally.
Data Storage
On-Device Storage Only
The App uses Apple's UserDefaults and App Groups exclusively to store your preferences, calculation history, MAC addresses, and widget data. This data is stored locally on your device and is not synced to any external server.
Widgets
The App shares network status data (IP address, connection type, ping latency) with its Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets using an on-device App Group. This data never leaves your device.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information.
- We do not use advertising networks or tracking SDKs.
- We do not collect analytics or usage statistics.
- We do not share any data with third parties.
- We do not require you to create an account.
Third-Party Services
The App does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or data collection SDKs. All network operations (DNS, WHOIS, ping, SSL) are performed directly from your device to the target server, with no intermediary.
Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
